What to see and do

Shetland is a walker's paradise, rich with birds and wildlife.
There are many beautiful walks in all areas of Shetland.
Valley B&B provides and excellent central location for a walking holiday.


The Shetland Golf Club and Asta Golf Club are only a few minutes drive from us.
Across the road from us Gott Farm House with many Shetland Ponies, an excellent photo opportunity.


A brief walk from here is Strand Loch which has abundant Brown Trout and is also a Sea Trout run.
A few minutes drive from here are the loch of Asta and Tingwall, which is Shetlands premier Brown Trout Loch. Local permits are very cheap and apply to all lochs in Shetland, of which there are hundreds.


If you enjoy bird watching then you can take a trip to Foula or Fair Isle, both of which are famous for their cliffs and sea birds. The airfield is only a few minutes drive from us where a small six-seater plane can whisk you away for the day. Check timetables for flight times and fares. Hermaness and Fetlar are also world class birding locations and both are accessible in a day trip by car or with a local guide.

Scalloway, the ancient capital of Shetland is only 4 miles away and has shops, bars, restaurants and of course the castle.


Lerwick, the capital of Shetland is six miles from us and has many visitor attractions including the magnificent new Museum, opened in 2007, Clickimin Leisure Centre, Town Hall and Library. Boat trips run from Lerwick to the internationally renowned sea bird cliffs of Noss.

Valley B&B is only 6 miles from the main Ferry Terminal at Holmsgarth and 29 mile from Sumburgh, the main airport.
